The Franchise Coach

Franchise Coach judges Manukau's Business Excellence Awards.

Franchise Coach is proud to announce its involvement in the judging of the 2007 Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards. Ivan Tava (senior consultant) took part in two months of intensive judging of an entrant line-up described as the most competitive ever, culminating in the Australasian infrastructure company Downer EDI Works being named Manukau’stop business for 2007. The Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards is one of the country’s largest and most prestigious business awards.

The best of Manukau’s businesses were celebrated at the 2007 Westpac ManukauSupreme Award winners Business Excellence with ten businesses recognised in individual categories.

Downer EDI Works Limited’s investment in the individual paid off at the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards last month when it walked away with the Employer of Choice Award (sponsored by Brookfields Lawyers).

A short time after receiving the award, the company was named Manukau’s top business for 2007 with the Supreme Award at a black tie dinner at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, on August 24.

Also honoured were members of the business community who had made an outstanding contribution to the community with Elias Nakhle and Hugh Green being inducted into the Manukau Business Hall of Fame.

Both men are representative of what our multi-cultural city is about. One from Ireland and one from Lebanon, they both arrived in New Zealand with very little and worked hard, building successful businesses. It is a great honour to recognise their achivements, and a great honour that they operate businesses in Manukau” said Mayor Sir Barry Curtis.

“All of our winners show excellence in all aspects of business, from leadership and strategic planning to customer focus, measurement, human resources, process management and business results. Winning an award is a tremendous achievement and shows a business is inspiring all involved in its enterprise,” said Westpac General Manager for Business Banking, Bruce McLachlan.
